Abstract

tribometer is a tool used to determine the condition of a material in the components of a machine in order to know the age of the material of the component. ¬Pin-on-disc is a component tool used for a tribometer, this tool is used as a tool to calculate wear and friction of the material being tested [1]. Research problems: 1. Knowing how the coating layer affects the wear resistance of AISI C1045 steel. 2. What is the effect of the test results after testing with variations in coating layers [2]. Research objectives: 1. To determine the effect of coating variations when testing the coefficient of friction using a pin on disc tribometer. 2. To determine the strength of the C1045 steel material which has been coated when tested using a pin on disc. 3. To determine the effect of coating variations when wear occurs on the disc. 4. To determine the value of the adhesion strength of various coating layers on AISI C1045 steel using a pin on disc test equipment [3]. Research method: Research will be carried out experimentally and analytically, then a direct approach will be taken by direct observation and data collection [4]. Research results: 1. From the comparison of friction coefficients, the highest value occurs in the thickness variation of 1 layer and the lowest value occurs in the variation without a layer. 2. Furthermore, the highest wear comparison value occurs in the 2-layer thickness variation and the lowest value occurs in the no-layer variation [5]. Conclusions from the research: 1. The results of testing the coefficient of friction made from AISI steel show that variations in coating thickness affect the friction force, where in variations in thickness without coating the friction force that occurs decreases, while in variations with 1 layer coating the friction force that occurs increases [6] .
